 Since 2017, Minnesota has gone 27-17 against Detroit and has a +70 run differential in those games. This is the Twins' best run differential versus any opponent, and the Tigers only have a worse mark against the Indians (-124).

 Max Kepler had his second career three-homer game yesterday, with the other coming August 1, 2016 -- both of these games were in Cleveland. It was the third three-homer game by an American Leaguer in 2019, along with Gary Sanchez and Pedro Severino.

 Jorge Polanco is on a season-high eight-game hit streak, and four of those were multi-hit games. He has 23 multi-hit games in 2019, trailing only Michael Brantley (28), Nolan Arenado (26) and Javy Baez (25).

The Detroit Tigers gave Miguel Cabrera the day off on Thursday. With the powerful Minnesota Twins coming to town, Cabrera will be back in the lineup on Friday for the series opener.
Manager Ron Gardenhire didn't play Cabrera on Thursday afternoon following a night game. Cabrera has been dealing with a chronic right knee pain and learned this week he'd have to become a full-time designated hitter.
