The Yankees have won nine straight series against the Royals dating back to May 2015, including taking the final three games of a four-game set from April 18-21 this season. That is the longest active streak by any team against a single opponent, and the longest streak by either team in the history of the Yankees/Royals matchup.

New York swept Baltimore this week, hitting 13 home runs over the four-game series. Entering their 50th game, the Yankees already have three batters with 12+ home runs, the second time in franchise history that three players have hit 12+ home runs in the first 50 team games -- in 1956, Mickey Mantle (21), Yogi Berra (16), and Hank Bauer (13) each did so.

Adalberto Mondesi logged his 40th RBI of the season on Wednesday in his 48th game, becoming the fastest Royal to reach 40 RBI in a season since 2000, when Mike Sweeney did so in 42 games while Jermaine Dye took 44 games.

Chad Green will serve as an "opener" for the Yankees, entering with a .368 opponent batting average this season after posting a .229 opponent average last season. Among pitchers with at least 50 batters faced this season and 150 batters faced last season, only Colorado's Seunghwan Oh (+.159) and Milwaukee's Corbin Burnes (+.140) have a larger increase.

He had an early flight out of Syracuse, New York, then caught a connecting flight in Chicago before finally getting to the stadium around 1 p.m.
