 The Brewers beat the Nationals, 7-3, at home on Wednesday, completing their second straight sweep and extending their winning streak to six games. The last time they swept three three-game series in a row was in April 2014.

 The Cubs beat the Marlins, 4-1, at home on Thursday, taking three out of four against Miami and improving to 10-1 in their last 11 games. Since April 8, their 20-6 record is the best in baseball, as is their 2.39 team ERA.

 These teams met in Milwaukee from April 5-7, with the Brewers taking two of the three games. Chicago won eight of their first nine meetings last season; since then, Milwaukee is 10-4 against the Cubs.

 Gio Gonzalez gets the start for the Brewers, his third start since joining the team. Both of his first two came against the Mets, against whom he allowed three runs (all earned) over 10.1 innings across the two starts, striking out nine and walking just one.

 Jose Quintana will be on the mound for the Cubs. He's allowed three or fewer runs in five of his six starts this season -- the only time he didn't was when he allowed eight runs (all earned) in 3.0 innings in Milwaukee on April 5. He had owned a 1.62 ERA in 11 starts against the Brewers prior to that game.

 Kris Bryant has homered in four of his last five games, including Thursday's win over Miami. He had just three home runs in his first 29 games. Since April 24, his .809 slugging percentage ranks third in the majors, behind Rhys Hoskins (.844) and Nolan Arenado (.821).

Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun routinely elicits a pronounced negative reaction from fans of the Chicago Cubs, and for good reason.
Braun, who has 18 homers at Wrigley Field and 38 overall against the Cubs, looks to continue to torment the club on Saturday when the National League Central rivals play the second contest of their three-game series in Chicago.

CHICAGO (AP)  As the ball sailed to the left-field bleachers, Willson Contreras spun and tossed his bat toward the Cubs' dugout. He let his helmet go as he approached the plate, got mobbed by teammates and had his jersey ripped off.
The celebration was a long time coming, following a nine-inning stretch of scoreless ball in the Cubs' longest-ever home game against the Brewers. Contreras' 15th-inning homer gave Chicago a 2-1 victory over Milwaukee on Saturday.
