The Pirates and Rangers last played in 2016 in Texas, with the Rangers taking two of three games. Pittsburgh has gone 17-5 (.773) in interleague play since last season, the best interleague record in MLB in that span.

Pittsburgh has lost eight straight games after getting swept by the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The eight-game skid is the longest by a Pirates team since losing eight in a row from August 29-September 6, 2016.

Melky Cabrera went 4-for-5 with two home runs on Sunday against the Dodgers, extending his hitting streak to six games. Cabrera is slugging .506 this season -- the last time he posted a slugging percentage of .500 or better was in 2012 with the San Francisco Giants.
