 The Reds were swept in a three-game series by the Dodgers in Los Angeles, bringing them to seven consecutive road losses to start the season. This is the second-longest road losing streak to start a season in franchise history behind the 1931 team which lost its first nine road games.

If Roark's unusual pre-game warmup worked last week in Monterrey, Mexico, no reason why it won't work in San Diego.

Padres, Reds both looking to halt streaks as series opens

SAN DIEGO (AP)  Joey Votto didn't wait long to make an impact as the Cincinnati Reds' leadoff batter Thursday night.
Votto drove rookie Chris Paddack's third pitch of the game over the fence in right-center field for his first career leadoff homer, sparking the Reds to a 4-1 win over the San Diego Padres. Tucker Barnhart and Jesse Winker also connected for the Reds, who snapped a four-game losing streak.
