The Pirates have gone 11-5 (.688) against the Brewers this season, and have won six of seven home games. Pittsburgh has a chance to finish with its second-best win percentage against Milwaukee -- currently second best, the best-ever mark is 15-4 (.789) form 2002, and third best 12-6 (.667) from 2004.

Milwaukee took the rubber match against Cincinnati after outscoring the Reds, 16-3, over the three games. The Brewers scored at least seven runs in both victories over the Reds, improving to 35-4 (.897) when scoring at least seven runs this season.

Christian Yelich went 7-for-12 in the Reds series, picking up four extra-base hits and knocking in four runners in the series. In the opener, Yelich hit for the cycle for the second time in 2018, becoming the fifth player in MLB history with two cycles in one season. He finished the year slugging 1.018 against the Reds, the highest mark since Hank Aaron slugged 1.019 against the team in 1972 (min. 60 PA).

Jhoulys Chacin owns a 0.74 ERA over his last four road starts -- he hasn't surrendered a home run in any of these outings and has held opponents to a .165 batting average. Chacin's season-long road ERA is 3.36, compared to his 3.79 mark at home.

Ivan Nova's ERA against the NL Central is 3.56 -- against all other opponents, that number rises to 4.36. In two starts against Milwaukee this season, Nova has allowed two earned runs in 10.2 innings, limiting the Brewers to a .366 slugging percentage.

The Milwaukee Brewers picked a good time to solve the Pittsburgh Pirates, and more of the same could make the upper reaches of the National League Central interesting over the final week-plus of the season.
The Brewers (88-66) moved to within 1 1/2 games of the first-place Chicago Cubs Friday with an 8-3 win in the opener of a weekend series at PNC Park. The game was a disaster in a few ways for the Pirates (77-75), who had won 11 of the first 16 meetings between the clubs.

Milwaukee's offense was stymied when Trevor Williams combined with three relievers on a five-hitter that led the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 3-0 victory Saturday night.
