Milwaukee split a two-game series with the Cubs to remain 3.5 games behind Chicago in the NL Central. The Brewers' batters have held their own in August putting up 5.08 runs per game, but have allowed 6.92 per game, second-most in MLB.

St. Louis had its eight-game winning streak snapped in a 5-4 loss to Washington on Wednesday. The Cardinals have gone 12-3 (.800) in August so far, second-best record behind the Rod Sox (11-2, .846).

The Brewers have won nine of 13 against the Cardinals in St. Louis since 2017, with 10 of the 13 games being decided by two runs or fewer.

Christian Yelich is slashing .361/.401/.619 since July 8 including 22 extra-base hits and 25 RBI. Only Matt Carpenter and Matt Chapman have more extra-base hits in that same time span.

Mike Moustakas hit a two-run double, giving Chacin all the runs he needed to beat St. Louis for the first time in his career with the Milwaukee Brewers' 2-1 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday.
