The Brewers are making their second trip to PNC Park this season, having split a rain-shortened two-game series there from June 18-19. Milwaukee is 4-8 in its last 12 visits to Pittsburgh, averaging 2.25 runs and 10.3 strikeouts over that stretch.

Milwaukee leads the National League with 21 wins in one-run games, though it was dealt a pair of extra-inning losses by a run during its most recent series at Miami. The Brewers' 34 one-run games are also the most among NL teams.

The Pirates have won three of four following a season high-tying five-game losing streak from July 2-7. Pittsburgh is just 7-13 since June 19 and hasn't won a series against a team currently over .500 since taking two of three at home from San Francisco from May 11-13.

Jesus Aguilar, named to his first All-Star team as the NL Final Vote winner, is 9 for 19 (.474) with three home runs and seven RBIs in 11 career games at PNC Park. Aguilar owns a .648 slugging percentage and a 1.029 OPS on the road this season, second only to Paul Goldschmidt among qualifying NL players in both categories.

Starling Marte is batting .462 (12 for 26) with two home runs and five stolen bases during a seven-game hitting streak and has homered three times in five 2018 meetings with the Brewers. Marte's 13 career homers against Milwaukee are his most against any team.

Wednesday's 2-0 win over Washington was the Pirates' 10th shutout, which trails only the Cubs (11) for the most in the majors. Pittsburgh pitchers own a 3.97 ERA at home and a 4.93 ERA on the road. Only the Marlins have a better positive differential (+2.56) between home and road ERA among NL teams.

PITTSBURGH (AP)  One late-inning rally wasn't enough for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Trailing and down to their final out on two occasions, the Pirates managed a 7-6 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that gave them the first five-game sweep in the majors in nearly a dozen years.
