The Orioles dominated the Rangers in 2017, taking six out of the seven contests between the two teams. Baltimore averaged 7.14 runs per game against Texas last season, the most by the team against any single opponent in 2017 (minimum five games played).

Baltimore and Texas have both struggled on the mound in 2018; the teams rank first and second, respectively in opponent extra base hits allowed (Orioles -- 349, Rangers -- 343). With one more loss, the Orioles will tie the 1979 Oakland Athletics for the most losses prior to the All-Star break.

Joey Gallo has struggled against left-handers in 2018; his 42 strikeouts against southpaws are the most in MLB, and his .169 average against lefties is the seventh lowest in MLB (among qualified hitters).

The Orioles are the only MLB team in 2018 to have three separate players (among batting title qualifiers in both seasons) suffer more than a 50-point drop off in 2018 from their prior season batting average (Trey Mancini -.073, Jonathan Schoop -.069 and Chris Davis -.059).
