The Red Sox have won seven of nine meetings with the Blue Jays this season, including the last five matchups. Boston outscored Toronto 22-10 in sweeping a three-game series at Fenway Park from May 28-30, homering twice in each contest.

Toronto is coming off a split of a two-game set at Atlanta and hasn't won a series since sweeping three games from the Nationals from June 15-17. The Blue Jays are 5-13 on the road since last winning a series away from home, when they took two of three from Philadelphia from May 25-27.

The Red Sox have won nine consecutive games, matching their longest winning streak of the season (March 30-April 10). It's the first time since 1948 that Boston has recorded multiple winning streaks of nine or more games. The Red Sox are batting .332 with 38 extra-base hits while outscoring opponents 67-26 during the run.

Steve Pearce will be facing the Blue Jays for the first time since being traded from Toronto to Boston on June 28. Pearce homered in his first at-bat at Fenway Park in a Red Sox uniform in Monday's 5-0 win over Texas, the first Boston player to do so since Daniel Nava on June 12, 2010.
