The Indians are 7-3 against the Tigers this season, sweeping a four-game set back in April in their only series at Progressive Field. They've won the last seven matchups in Cleveland, outscoring Detroit 36-8.

The Tigers arrive in Cleveland after being swept in a two-game series by Cincinnati after opening an eight-game trip taking all three from the White Sox. Nicholas Castellanos, who went 0 for 8 against the Reds after homering three times against Chicago, is slashing .162/.184/.270 against the Indians this season. His slash line is .322/.366/.519 against everybody else.

Mike Fiers gave up three runs and eight hits in 5.1 innings Friday against the White Sox in a game Detroit would go on to win 4-3. Since May 8, the Tigers are 7-1 when Fiers pitchers -- including two wins over Cleveland -- compared to 15-18 when he doesn't. In six career starts against the Indians, the righty is 3-1 with a 2.04 ERA -- his lowest against any AL club.

The Indians capped a three-game sweep of the White Sox with a 12-0 win on Wednesday, and hold a 28-6 scoring advantage during a four-game winning streak. This plus-22 run differential is their largest of the season over any four-game span.

Jose Ramirez hit his 22nd homer Wednesday, becoming the first Indian with 22 home runs through 73 team games since Jim Thome in 1997. Since 2016, Ramirez is slashing .433/.518/.761 with six homers, 21 RBI and 16 runs in 21 home games against the Tigers.

Francisco Lindor walked three times and scored twice on Wednesday after walking three times in 56 plate appearances in his previous 12 games. With 56 runs on the season, he has the most runs by an Indian through 73 team games since Grady Sizemore had 62 in 2007. The switch-hitting Lindor is 3-for-17 (.176) with five strikeouts and no walks lifetime against Fiers.

CLEVELAND (AP)  Shane Bieber has made believers out of the Cleveland Indians. In return, they plan on making him a fan of the Grammy-winning singer with his surname.
The rookie right-hander walked onto the field with ''Baby'' by Justin Bieber blaring on the sound system, and then struck out nine in a career-high seven innings as Cleveland rolled to a 10-0 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.
