The Blue Jays took two of three in Philadelphia, winning their first series since a three-gamer in Minnesota that spanned from April 30 to May 2. Toronto and Philadelphia split the two games in the series that were decided by no more than one run; the Jays are now 5-7 on the year in such games.

The Red Sox won the first two games of their current homestand before losing on Sunday to Atlanta. Boston enters its matchup with Toronto with 36 wins, tying a franchise record set in 2002 and matched in 2007 for the most pre-June wins since 1913.

Toronto will visit Boston for the first time in 2018 after losing four of six at home in April and May. In both series, Toronto won the first game and then dropped the final two. Since the beginning of 2017, Boston has gone 17-8 (.680) against the Jays.

Yangervis Solarte has hit 11 home runs through May 27. His previous pre-June high was six, in 2014 with the New York Yankees. His career high for home runs came last year with the Padres when he slugged 18 total.

Mookie Betts (17) and J.D. Martinez (16) are the only pair of Red Sox teammates in franchise history to blast 15+ homers each before June 1. Only Mo Vaughn (20) and Jose Canseco (14) in 1996 had more combined before June 1.

David Price's last home start was arguably his best of the year -- he allowed two runs and five hits over nine innings while walking zero batters. On the year, Price's home ERA is 4.37 compared to 3.89 on the road.

BOSTON (AP)  The Boston Red Sox are rolling into Houston for their first matchup against the champion Astros since getting bounced by them last postseason.
J.D. Martinez hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park, and the Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep.
