The Indians broke the 100-win threshold for the first time since 1995 with an AL-high 102 wins last season. It was the second-most wins in franchise history behind the 1954 team with 111.

The Mariners missed out on the playoffs for the 16th consecutive season in 2017. The 16-year postseason drought is the longest by any team since the Blue Jays ended a 20-year absence in 2015.

Cleveland has won seven of 11 at Seattle since the start of 2015. The only non-division opponent with more road wins against the Mariners over that time is the Yankees with eight.

Jose Ramirez tied Giancarlo Stanton for the most extra-base hits in the majors last season with 91. Ramirez became the first player with at least 90 extra-base hits and 90 singles since Albert Pujols in 2009.

Felix Hernandez is slated to make his 11th career Opening Day start for the Mariners. Hernandez can tie CC Sabathia for the most Opening Day starts among active pitchers.

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Mariners couldn't make it through the first week of the season unscathed.
Starting catcher Mike Zunino was a late scratch before the season opener Thursday against the Cleveland Indians and the next day was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.

SEATTLE (AP)  Dee Gordon isn't known for hitting home runs, and before this year he'd never played the outfield. But on Sunday, his power and his glove in center field led the Seattle Mariners to a 5-4 win against the Cleveland Indians.
Gordon, who has never hit more than four homers in a season, led off the seventh inning with a tiebreaking shot to right off Dan Otero (0-1). Gordon clearly knew he'd hit it well - after making contact, he watched the ball and walked out of the batter's box.
