The Brewers took two in Toronto back in April, improving to 10-5 against the Blue Jays all-time in interleague play. The 10-5 record is Milwaukee's best against an AL opponent in interleague play.

The Blue Jays avoided the sweep with a 3-1 win at the Orioles on Sunday. Toronto has now allowed two runs or fewer in each of its last six wins, its longest streak since an eight-game run from September 10-24, 2016.

Jonathan Villar recorded his first three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4 with a double and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Cubs. Villar had 15 three-hit games last season (including one four-hit game), the last occurring on September 26 at Texas.

Devon Travis' three-run home run in the first inning was all the scoring Toronto would need in Sunday's win over Baltimore. Travis is now batting .536 (15-for-28) with eight RBI during his current seven-game hitting streak.

Jimmy Nelson earned his first win in more than a month after allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings at the Padres last Tuesday. Nelson has thrown 100+ pitches in back-to-back starts for the first time since May 24-29, 2016.

Joe Biagini took the loss at the Braves last Wednesday, giving up six runs (five earned) over four innings. Over his two seasons with the Blue Jays, Biagini has a 6.28 ERA in interleague play.

MILWAUKEE -- Despite a 13-6 loss Sunday at Wrigley Field, the Milwaukee Brewers are still atop the National League Central standings heading into the opener of a two-game interleague series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night at Miller Park.
The Brewers (25-19) have been something of a pleasant surprise so far, riding a potent offense that ranked third in on-base-plus-slugging percentage, runs scored, homers and stolen bases through the Sunday games. That makes them a tough test for opposing pitchers.

Hot-hitting Brewers face Blue Jays in short series

MILWAUKEE (AP)  The Toronto Blue Jays bullpen slammed the door on the Milwaukee Brewers to preserve a 4-3 victory Tuesday night.
Four relievers combined to shutout the Brewers over the final 4 2/3 innings after Milwaukee chased starter Joe Biagini with three runs in the fifth inning.
