Another youngster put pen to paper at the Mestalla Stadium on Friday, with Andre Gomes signing a five-year deal that will see him join Valencia CF permanently from SL Benfica.

Gomes, 21, notched four goals and one assist through 33 La Liga appearances last season to help Valencia secure Champions League qualification.

"I am very happy to belong completely to the Valencia CF family," Gomes told Valencia's official website.

"I have always been calm about things, because what I wanted was to continue here and it is what the club wanted as well. I can only thank the fans and my teammates for making me so happy. Now I hope to repay the confidence placed in me by playing good football and achieving good results."

Valencia recently signed 19-year-old left-back Jose Gaya and 20-year-old right-back Joao Cancelo through 2020 and 2021, respectively, indicating a clear desire to develop their young squad into one of Europe's elite over the next five years.
