Real Madrid wishes Sunderland's Watmore a 'speedy recovery'
Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore got the backing of the world's biggest football club during his attempt to recover from a serious knee injury.
Less than a month after the ex-Hibernian loanee ruptured his ACL for the second time in his career, Real Madrid offered its best wishes to Watmore in a letter signed by the team's director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueno, on behalf of club president Florentino Perez.
The brief message read:
On behalf of our president, Florentino Perez, and those who work for Real Madrid, we would like to wish you a smooth and speedy recovery from your knee injury.
Watmore's father, Ian, said that the letter was waiting for his son when he arrived at rehab Tuesday. He was, however, quick to pour cold water on speculation over Real Madrid's possible interest in his son:
