A hat-trick plus a fourth for good measure.

On Tuesday, Lionel Messi scored four goals as Barcelona hammered SD Eibar 6-1 at the Camp Nou. After opening the scoring by virtue of a penalty kick in the 20th minute, the Argentinian phenom drew blood three times in the second half to notch his 39th hat-trick for the Blaugrana in all competitions and his 28th for the Catalan club in La Liga.

Messi exited the pitch boasting nine goals in five La Liga games this season, putting the planet's top footballer on pace for 68.4 league markers by the end of the campaign. His record tally was produced in 2011-12, when he unbelievably registered 50 goals in the top flight of Spanish football.

The match marked only the fourth time that Messi tallied four goals in a single La Liga fixture and the sixth time he did so in all competitions. His last four-goal performance came in January 2013 as Barcelona demolished CA Osasuna 5-1 at the Camp Nou.

If that wasn't enough, Messi's penultimate goal marked his 300th at the Camp Nou across all competitions. Two of those came in an international friendly.
