Napoli sweating after Osimhen suffers hamstring injury with Nigeria
Nigeria have announced strikers Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho have quit the team's training camp in Portugal before a friendly with Mozambique.
Napoli striker Osimhen has returned to his base in Italy after he suffered a hamstring injury during Friday's friendly against Saudi Arabia.
The official statement did not mention the severity of the hamstring injury he suffered though he underwent a scan Saturday.
He left the field unassisted in the 55th minute of Friday's game, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Nigeria said Iheanacho, on the other hand, left the camp for England for "personal reasons".
He scored a goal when he was brought on in the second half against Saudi Arabia.
"We will miss Kelechi and Victor, but we have other good players who can make Nigeria proud," said Nigeria Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.
"I look at the bench and I see players who can step up and take their chances."
Nice striker Terem Moffi and Sadiq Umar from La Liga club Real Sociedad will hope for starting spots versus Mozambique Monday after they came off the bench against Saudi Arabia.
