Milan, Oct 15, 2022 (AFP) - Monza's three-match winning run came to an end on Saturday with a 1-0 defeat at Empoli, the first loss for coach Raffaele Palladino.

Nicolas Haas bundled in the only goal of the game which moved Empoli up to 11th on 11 points, one ahead of Monza who are owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Monza, who were repeatedly denied by Empoli's impressive goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, stay five points above the relegation zone in their first ever season in Serie A.

Palladino had won his first three matches as Monza coach after replacing Giovanni Stroppa last month.

Later on Saturday crisis-club Juventus face local rivals Torino hoping to bounce back from Champions League humiliation at the hands of Maccabi Haifa.
