Report: Inter enter advanced €40M talks with Real Madrid for Hakimi

Inter Milan's negotiations with Real Madrid over the services of right-back Achraf Hakimi are at an advanced stage, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

The Serie A side has reportedly tabled a €40-million-plus add-ons offer for Hakimi, who has agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract.

Hakimi, who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Borussia Dortmund, has emerged as one of European football's top young full-backs.

As such, the 21-year-old seeks assurances over a starting role with his next employer. Hakimi is reportedly uncertain if that will be afforded to him upon return to the Spanish capital, prompting the Madrid-born Moroccan international to seek alternatives.

A potential move to Serie A for Hakimi would amount to a coup for Antonio Conte's Inter.

A two-way full-back who also thrives on the wing, Hakimi would immediately be inserted into Conte's preferred 3-4-1-2 setup as a wing-back, a position that Hakimi thrived at when Dortmund boss Lucien Favre opted for a back-three this season.

Conte has used Antonio Candreva and Victor Moses in that role this term, and it's clear that Hakimi would be a massive upgrade at the position, even with the latter returning to Chelsea following a season-long loan.

Thomas Meunier will replace Hakimi at Borussia Dortmund. The soon-to-be Paris Saint-Germain free agent agreed to a four-year deal with the Bundesliga runners-up Wednesday.
