In the wake of Wesley's season-ending knee injury, Aston Villa are turning to Serie A for reinforcements in attack.

The Villans have tabled a €30-million offer for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, reports Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia. The two sides met Monday in Italy and Milan officials are now reportedly weighing the bid.

Piatek is yet to decide if he's open to a move, according to Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian, who adds that the Polish international has already turned down a switch to Crystal Palace.

Villa, who currently find themselves just a point above the relegation zone, lost £22-million summer signing Wesley for the remainder of the campaign after he suffered knee ligament damage against Burnley on New Year's Day. Though the 23-year-old Brazilian hasn't exactly set the world alight since his move from Club Brugge, his five goals are good for second on Villa's scoring list this season behind only captain Jack Grealish.

Piatek, meanwhile, joined the Rossoneri from Genoa in January 2019 for an initial €35-million fee, and he hit the ground running upon arrival. But as Milan have faltered over the past 12 months, so too has the 24-year-old.

After finding the net 22 times in Serie A between Genoa and Milan last season, Piatek has just four tallies in 18 appearances this year. Though he started the club's most recent match against Sampdoria, the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and continued emergence of Rafael Leao figure to relegate Piatek to a bench role, making him expendable during the January window.
