If you love something, set it free. If it comes back it's yours.

That adage apparently applies to Juventus and legendary shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon. Following a season at Paris Saint-Germain, Buffon is reportedly close to an Old Lady return as Wojciech Szczesny's backup, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Buffon, 41, spent 17 seasons with the winners of eight consecutive Scudettos, including the 2006-07 campaign in the second tier following the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal. With Juventus, the World Cup winner captured nine Serie A titles to go with four Coppa Italia conquests.

Last season with PSG, Buffon shared shot-stopping duties with Alphonse Areola, splitting 17 Ligue 1 appearances with five in the Champions League.

The domino effect of Buffon's reported return to Turin may see Kevin Trapp return to PSG from a loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, while it's expected that second-choice Juve 'keeper Mattia Perin will be sold ahead of Maurizio Sarri's first season in charge.
