Report: Inter to pursue United's Sanchez if he lowers wage demands

Alexis Sanchez's nightmare tenure at Manchester United could potentially be nearing its conclusion.

Inter are open to take Sanchez off United's hands, but only if the Chilean is prepared to lower his wage demands, Miguel Delaney of the Independent reports.

It's understood that United are eager to sell Sanchez but have failed to find any suitors willing to absorb his gargantuan weekly wages of £500,000 plus bonuses.

The 30-year-old has struggled mightily to live up to that price tag since arriving at Old Trafford from Arsenal in January 2018. Most recently, he managed just one touch after coming on in the 82nd minute of United's derby loss to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Anticipating a release from Financial Fair Play penalties, Inter are reportedly planning to invest heavily in an attempt to end Juventus' eight-season reign as Serie A champions.

Sanchez previously enjoyed a successful stint in Italy, notching 21 goals and 20 assists across 112 appearances for Udinese between 2006-2011.

The Nerazzurri are also reportedly interested in signing United captain Antonio Valencia, who has already confirmed his 10-year association with the Red Devils will end this summer when his contract expires. The 33-year-old is believed to be in favor of a move to Major League Soccer, however, if a club is willing to take him on as a Designated Player.
