Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted his desire to play in Serie A during his career.

"Why not? I hope it happens," the 25-year-old replied when asked by La Gazzetta dello Sport if he would like to move to Italy, according to Sky Sports.

United will face Italian champions Juventus on Oct. 23 in the Champions League group stage, and Lukaku spoke glowingly of his future opponents.

"Juve have a great project in place and they just keep going," he added. "Every year, they try to get stronger. Without doubt, Juve are one of the two or three best teams in Europe.

"They've got a great coach on the bench and extraordinary players in every area of the team. Cristiano Ronaldo stands out, but watch out for the others too. Paulo Dybala is already impressive and getting stronger, while I love Douglas Costa."

Lukaku, contracted at Old Trafford until 2022, is a seemingly divisive figure amongst United fans. He has an excellent scoring record in England but often receives criticism for a perceived profligacy in front of goal.

The former Everton man has netted four times for United this season, but his last strike came a month ago against Watford. Since then, he has played 90 minutes six times without scoring.

However, he reminded the world of his abilities with a brace in Belgium's Nations League win over Switzerland on Friday, which has brought his tally to 45 goals in 78 appearances for his country.
