Report: Gazidis dallying over lucrative Milan move, Arsenal expect his exit

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has not yet decided whether to leave the club to take up the same role with AC Milan.

After Milan's takeover in July, Gazidis emerged as the primary target for new majority-owning hedge fund Elliott Management, though Gunners chairman Sir Chips Keswick subsequently insisted the CEO remained "fully committed" to the north London club.

However, the Telegraph's Matt Law reports Gazidis is still weighing up whether to accept Milan's offer, which would reportedly present the 53-year-old with a £1-million-per-year pay rise. Law adds Arsenal have been bracing for his departure, while Milan want a firm answer within the next two weeks.

It is a watershed time for both Gazidis and Arsenal. The exec was decisive in overseeing a boardroom reshuffle and choosing Unai Emery to replace Arsene Wenger as the club's first new manager in 22 years, and the consequence of that, if things do not pan out well, could be that Gazidis' neck is on the line if he stays at the Emirates. That could be playing on his mind, given Arsenal have endured their worst start to a league season in 26 years with back-to-back defeats, albeit against title hopefuls Manchester City and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the start of the Rossoneri's Serie A campaign was delayed by a week after their home opener against Genoa was postponed following the tragic Morandi bridge collapse last week. Gennaro Gattuso's men will now begin their campaign at last season's runners-up Napoli on Saturday.
