Gonzalo Higuain said he's optimistic about completing his transfer from Juventus to AC Milan on Thursday.

It's believed that an agreement between the two club has been reached and that Higuain will undergo a medical Thursday before the deal is officially completed.

The Argentine forward arrived in Milan on Wednesday to the delight of dozens of fans clamoring for a chance to see a player who's on the verge of joining their club.

"It's great to see so many fans, but I also want to send greetings to those of Juventus who have given me so much affection," Higuain told reporters, as translated by Reuters.

"Tomorrow, I’ll do the visit (medical) and then I hope to sign ... We hope to go as far as possible."

Higuain will reportedly join Milan on an initial €18-million loan deal with a €36-million option to buy. Defender Mattia Caldara is also expected to join Milan for a reported fee of €40 million.

Meanwhile, it's widely believed that Higuain's departure will coincide with the return of Leonardo Bonucci, who left Juventus last summer in a shock transfer that cost €40 million. The 31-year-old central defender spent seven seasons in Turin before moving to Milan.

Since joining Juve from Napoli in 2016 for €90 million, Higuain has starred in the Bianconeri's attack, scoring 55 goals across 105 appearances in all competitions.
