Lucas Leiva's first-half header was enough to secure Lazio's place in the Europa League quarter-finals as the Italian side edged past Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 (4-2 on aggregate).

Thursday's triumph in Ukraine marks the first time since the 2012-13 campaign that Lazio has progressed to the last eight of the competition,

It took the Serie A club 23 minutes to ease the nerves of the travelling support when Lucas' glancing header bulged the back of the net. It was the Brazilian's second goal since joining Lazio last summer following a seven-year spell at Liverpool, where he only managed one goal.

Lazio scored its second off a corner kick with less than 10 minutes remaining when Stefan de Vrij poked the ball past Dynamo's helpless goalkeeper.

The Biancocelesti will discover their next opponent during Friday's quarter-final draw.
