Report: PSG in talks to extend Mbappe's contract
Kylian Mbappe's wish is apparently Paris Saint-Germain's command.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions are in talks to extend and improve the 20-year-old's contract, according to The Telegraph's Jason Burt.
Mbappe hinted at a potential move away from PSG during Sunday's year-end awards ceremony, telling those in attendance that he'd approached another turning point in his career.
"I feel that it is time for me to have more responsibility," he said after being named Ligue 1 Player of the Year. "Maybe here in Paris, I would be happy, or maybe somewhere else then. In any case, thanks, everyone."
To avoid losing one of football's burgeoning stars, PSG are apparently keen to reward Mbappe with a more lucrative deal. His current contract is set to expire in June 2022.
The club also seems to understand it must make signings in order to satisfy Mbappe and achieve the ultimate goal of winning the Champions League, according to Burt.
For their part, PSG moved to quell any speculation about the Frenchman's future on Monday, releasing a statement on Twitter that read, in part: "Strong ties have united PSG and Kylian Mbappe for two years and that story will continue next season."
Mbappe finished as Ligue 1's top scorer this past season with 32 goals in 28 appearances, only trailing Lionel Messi in the top five European leagues.
