The contract of the world's most expensive footballer does not include a release clause.

At least that's what one of Neymar's representatives says. In conversation with Brazilian outlet Radio Globo, Marcos Motta, a lawyer for the attacker, guaranteed that Neymar's blockbuster Paris Saint-Germain contract was drafted without a buyout provision. Neymar moved to the French capital in the summer for a world-record €222-million fee.

The superstar's terms apparently don't include any performance-related stipulations either.

"I can guarantee that there is no release clause in Neymar's contract, and neither are there any clauses concerning objectives or finishing the season as top scorer," Motta told Radio Globo, according to AS' Sergio Gomez.

A common element in modern football, release or buyout clauses are contractual provisions that require a minimum fee to permit a player's transfer to another club.

Spanish labour laws mandate that terms include a release clause, and Neymar's former side Barcelona routinely includes lucrative stipulations in its contracts. Blaugrana centre-half Gerard Pique put pen to paper on an improved deal Thursday that features a €500-million release clause.
