Jardim: Monaco needs to prepare for January bids
Although Leonardo Jardim isn't expecting a lot of activity during the winter signing period, the AS Monaco manager is prepared for the possibility of January bids.
Monaco continues to garner plenty of attention following a summer which saw the club part ways with several of its stars, such as Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, and Tiemoue Bakayoko, who all helped capture the Ligue 1 title last term.
Thomas Lemar has been at the centre of several transfer reports ever since Arsenal failed to secure a move for the French international during deadline day last summer. The Premier League side, along with rival Liverpool, reportedly remain keen on adding Lemar regardless of Monaco's historically conservative approach during the winter.
"We don't usually sell in winter, but the transfer window is open until the end of the month, and you have to prepare yourself for anything and everything," Jardim said.
"With the exception of two or three youngsters who could leave to get some playing time, we are counting on all the rest."
After scoring nine league goals and setting up 10 assists last season, Lemar has found the back of the net twice while providing three assists in 13 Ligue 1 appearances.
Monaco currently sits in second place, nine points back of Paris Saint-Germain.
