Monaco set-piece specialist Joao Moutinho is hoping to extend his time in the principality.

The 31-year-old, whose current deal expires in the summer, said discussions have begun between his representatives and the club, telling L'Equipe, "We have already talked about that. I hope that in one, two, or three weeks it will be clearer. That's my goal."

The Portugal international played the full 90 minutes during Tuesday's Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final victory over Cote d'Azur rival Nice, and with Tiemoue Bakayoko's summer switch to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans' mercurial debut season at Monaco keeping Moutinho in Leonardo Jardim's plans, the midfielder hopes to continue playing a role in Ligue 1.

"I'm very good in Monaco, I like this club, it's a club that gave me a lot. I try to give everything back," Moutinho added. "A contract extension? I hope to continue here doing great things with this club."

One of Les Monegasques' longest-serving players, Moutinho joined the club in 2013 after winning Primeira Liga titles on the trot and a Europa League crown with Porto.
