Monaco boss Jardim concedes Ligue 1 title to PSG

Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim does not sound like a man confident of defending his team's Ligue 1 title.

After leading the principality side to a shock championship that ended Paris Saint-Germain's four-year reign of dominance last season, Jardim admitted that Monaco can't compete with the unbeaten capital club this time around.

"You know this league, it's 12 games in now, I think it appears that thanks to its recruitment, PSG remains ahead of everyone else," Jardim told reporters, via ESPN, after Saturday's 6-0 thrashing of Guingamp.

That win maintained a four-point gap between Les Monegasques and unbeaten table-topper PSG, though for Jardim, the rift in quality between the two sides is too great.

"After that you've got great teams such as Lyon, who had a very nice transfer window. Marseille as well is pretty strong and obviously us," the Portuguese gaffer added.

"We have a group of three teams who will fight for second spot," he continued. "But us, we just want to be as close as possible to PSG, this is our ambition."

The four-point gap could shrink on the other side of the international break when Monaco hosts PSG at the Stade Louis II on the last weekend of November.
