Edinson Cavani is used to playing second fiddle, whether it be for Uruguay or Paris Saint-Germain. But on Sunday, the Danubio Futbol Club product took the spotlight.

In a violent edition of Le Classique - both on and off the pitch - Cavani came to PSG's rescue in the 93rd minute, rocketing a free-kick over Olympique de Marseille's wall, off the crossbar, and into the back of the net. The equaliser produced a 2-2 draw and preserved Les Parisiens' unbeaten season, in which they boast eight victories and two draws from 10 Ligue 1 games.

Cavani's free-kick came eight minutes after Neymar received his first expulsion since joining PSG. Before the match kicked off, Marseille's supporters clashed with the Compagnies Republicaines de Securite outside the Stade Velodrome, which reportedly resulted in seven fans being arrested.
