Blink and you'll miss the most exciting promotion race in football.

A frantic final day of Ligue 2 action has seen Strasbourg and Amiens secure promotion to France's top flight, while third-place Troyes can look forward to a play-off for a Ligue 1 berth.

Entering Friday's slate of matches, only three points separated six sides vying for three positions, amounting to the most hotly contested promotion battle among Europe's marquee divisions:

Pos. Club Pts. GD +/-
1 Strasbourg 64 +15
2 Amiens 63 +17
3 Troyes 63 +15
4 Lens 62 +17
5 Brest 62 +10
6 Nimes 61 +17

Friday's tilts were made more dramatic by the fact that any of the half-dozen clubs had a shot at winning the league, and by chance, the fixture list meant none of the six outfits were tasked with facing each other.

As scores changed, so too did the table, with Lens suffering the most courtesy of Amiens' 96th-minute winner against Reims. Emmanuel Bourgaud's goal booked his club's first-ever Ligue 1 berth, vaulting Amiens from sixth to second.

Scenes!

Here's how the table looked after Friday's nutty finale:

Pos. Club Pts. GD+/-
1 Strasbourg 67 +16
2 Amiens 66 +18
3 Troyes 66 +16
4 Lens 65 +19
5 Brest 65 +14
6 Nimes 64 +18

For Strasbourg, Friday's Ligue 2 conquest marks a second successive league triumph after Le Racing won the Championnat National a year ago after a six-year absence from France's professional tiers.

Like Strasbourg, Amiens has now experienced two promotions on the trot and can look forward to a maiden voyage in France's premier division, while Troyes and 40-year-old technical marvel Benjamin Nivet await a playoff opponent after finishing bottom a year ago with the worst points tally (18) in French history.
