Wayne Rooney will have to wait until the weekend before making his return from injury after being left off Manchester United's squad list ahead of Wednesday's match against Saint-Etienne.
The United captain, Matteo Darmian, and Luke Shaw are absent from manager Jose Mourinho's 20-man squad that will travel to France for the Round of 32 encounter.
Rooney's absence is somewhat surprising considering he managed to participate in training Tuesday after being sidelined by a muscle strain for almost a month.
His exclusion from the match is understandable, however, considering United holds a 3-0 advantage heading into the encounter after securing a decisive win at Old Trafford during the first leg.
Instead, Rooney - who has not featured since United's FA Cup win over Wigan on Jan. 29 - could return Sunday during the EFL Cup final against Southampton at Wembley Stadium.
Meanwhile, a suspension will force Ander Herrera to miss the Europa League match as well.
