Mbappe to boycott France photo shoot over image rights dispute

Kylian Mbappe won't take part in the France national team's photo shoot or other sponsor activities Tuesday.

"I have decided to not take part in the photo shoot after the French federation's refusal to change the image rights agreement with the players," Mbappe said in a statement Monday, as translated by ESPN's Julien Laurens.

"My representatives and I fully regret that no agreement could be reached, as asked, before the World Cup."

Mbappe sat out sponsor activities in March and called on French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet to review the agreement on players' image rights.

It's understood that the 22-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star is eager to have a larger influence over which sponsors are associated with Les Bleus players during international call-ups, Laurens reports.

Mbappe reportedly refuses to be associated with fast-food brands and betting organizations that are currently partnered with the national team.

Mbappe and Le Graet discussed the issue in June, and there could be further talks Monday, as the FFF president is scheduled to meet with players at France's training base.
