Kylian Mbappe suggested that he was caught up in the heat of the moment when he called Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar a "bum" during a Ligue 1 match in September.

"Yes, yes, I said that. Now, these are things that happen all the time in football," Mbappe said in an interview with French outlet L'Equipe, as translated by BBC Sport.

"Immediately afterwards, seeing how big it had become, I talked to him about it."

The incident occurred during PSG's victory over Montpellier on Sept. 25 after Mbappe was substituted from the contest. As the 22-year-old walked off the pitch, he was heard saying, "This bum, he never passes to me," in reference to the Brazilian star.

The French international added that such exchanges have become normal since the two players joined forces at PSG in 2017.

"We've exchanged a lot of words like that in the past and we'll continue to do so, because we want to win, but there shouldn't be any hard feelings," Mbappe said.

"There is no resentment at all because I respect the player and the man, and I admire what he is."
