Barcelona have moved closer to securing a move for Lyon captain Memphis Depay.

The Dutch international has agreed to terms on a contract to join Barcelona, but the two clubs have yet to settle on a transfer fee, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly keen on a move for Depay after working with the former Manchester United player during his time as Netherlands coach.

Barcelona stepped up their pursuit of the 26-year-old forward - whose contract at Lyon expires next summer - in recent days, Romano adds.

A successful bid could cost the Catalan side €30 million, reports Ben Hayward of the Evening Standard.

Depay's arrival at the Camp Nou would likely fill the void left by Luis Suarez's possible departure, as he's been linked with a transfer to Juventus.

However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is eager to see Depay stay for the upcoming season.

"Memphis could have left in August, but now he should stay with us in 2020-21," he said, according to Hayward.

He added: "Contrary to what I have read, there have been no exchanges with Barca, I do not think that it is in Lyon's interest to allow their captain to leave after this truncated season by the LFP (Professional Football League)."

Barcelona are also in discussions with the representatives of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, though an offer for the 29-year-old has yet to be submitted to the Premier League champions, Romano reports.
