Rudi Garcia will step down as Marseille manager following Friday's visit from Montpellier.

With just one match of the 2018-19 Ligue 1 campaign remaining, the former Lille and Roma boss has guided the French giants to sixth, a considerable 11 points adrift of Lyon for the final Champions League qualification place.

Marseille were also eliminated from the Europa League in December after finishing below Eintracht Frankfurt, Lazio, and Apollon Limassol in Group H.

The Mirror speculates Jose Mourinho could take over at Marseille, while Andrew Musgrove noted Newcastle United handler Rafa Benitez's links to the job in the Newcastle Chronicle's live news feed.
