Report: PSG close to signing Lassana Diarra on free transfer
Paris Saint-Germain is close to finalising a deal to sign former Real Madrid and Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra, a source told ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson.
The 32-year-old, who's struggled with injuries as of late, reportedly convinced sporting director Antero Henrique to take a chance on him.
Diarra is free to sign with the club of his choosing after terminating his contract with United Arab Emirates side Al Jazira in December.
The 34-time capped French international would give midfield fulcrum Thiago Motta some much-needed relief. Motta, 35, has missed more than a dozen matches through injury since the start of the season, forcing Adrien Rabiot to deputise in the holding position at various points.
Diarra's injury struggles caused PSG to think twice before considering a deal, according to Johnson. He made just four starts in the Arabian Gulf League with Jazira.
