Oscar Piastri: Sets Pace in FP2
Piastri topped the timesheets in the second practice hour ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, the McLaren driver leading the way from the Mercedes pair of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
Friday's second session in Japan would go similar to the first. Charles Leclerc would put down the early fast lap in the session but it would soon evolve into another battle between Mercedes and McLaren. Piastri would post a day's best lap of 1:30.133 to beat Antonelli by one-tenth. That would hold up until the checkered flag and give McLaren some encouraging news as they seem to be gaining some ground on the Mercedes duo. Piastri looks like a podium threat for Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix.
