Liam Lawson: Contact with Oscar Piastri
Lawson finished 14th in the Las Vegas Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit on Saturday night.
Analysis:
Despite qualifying a brilliant P6 on the grid, Lawson would run into trouble on the opening lap. The dash into turn 1 upon the lights out would see the Racing Bulls youngster run into the rear of Oscar Piastri's McLaren. It would create a lot of havoc on track and Lawson's car would receive front wing damage. He would pit on lap 2 for a new wing and rejoin P18. That would effectively turn the race into a two-stop affair for Lawson while most others were on a one-stop strategy. He would battle at the back-end all the way to the finish and only promote to P14 upon the early retirements of other drivers and post-race disqualification of both McLarens.
