Lando Norris: Claims Mexico City Pole

Norris surged to a stunning pole position in Qualifying for the Mexico City Grand Prix, the Briton leading the way from the Ferrari pair of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton while McLaren team mate Oscar Piastri ended the session back in eighth, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

After some struggles this weekend, Norris seemed to get things righted before pole qualifying. The McLaren star would set the pace in Q2 and easily advance into the final round. In the closing seconds Norris would post a jaw-dropping lap of 1:15.596 to beat out Leclerc by more than two-tenths. It was his fifth pole of the season and 14th-career pole position. Norris will start P1 Sunday in Mexico City and be the driver to beat at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
