Max Verstappen: Wins Austin Sprint
Verstappen has taken victory in a dramatic Sprint at the United States Grand Prix that saw both McLaren drivers retire on the opening lap after being caught up in a Turn 1 melee, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
A four-wide battle into turn 1 after the lights out would end in disaster as both McLarens would be caught up in Nico Hulkenberg's contact. That would allow Verstappen to get away cleanly and set the pace for this 19-lap Sprint race. He would face down a challenge late from George Russell but would hang on as the race ended under the safety car for an incident between Lance Stroll and Esteban Ocon. Verstappen will pocket the valuable championship points and prepare for Sunday's grand prix in Austin.
