Lewis Hamilton: Leads First Silverstone Practice

Hamilton has topped the timesheets during Friday's first practice session at the British Grand Prix, the seven-time World Champion leading the way from fellow Briton Lando Norris at his home event, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris each traded fastest laps in the first half of this opening practice at Silverstone. Once the soft tyres rolled out for mock qualifying runs, it would be Hamilton that would conquer this famous circuit for the session. The Ferrari star would post a lap of 1:26.892 which would just edge Norris for the top of the time sheets. Hamilton is the defending British Grand Prix champion and looks like a strong bet to podium on Sunday afternoon.
