Lawson would execute a determined drive Sunday in Austria. The Racing Bulls youngster would qualify well and start sixth on the grid. Lawson would pull out all the stops and moves to hang onto that good track position throughout the grand prix despite fading back to P9 on the opening lap. A very long opening stint would allow him to race up to P3 and pit on lap 32. The one-stop strategy worked well as Lawson stayed out while many drivers pitted a second time. It would allow him to climb back to P6 and earn his best finish of the season.
