Charles Leclerc agreed to a contract extension to remain with Ferrari, the team announced Thursday.

The agreement commits Leclerc to the Scuderia "beyond the 2024 season."

"I’m very pleased to know that I will be wearing the Scuderia Ferrari race suit for several more seasons to come," Leclerc said, according to The Athletic's Luke Smith.

Leclerc joined Ferrari for the 2019 F1 season. The 26-year-old has racked up five wins with the Scuderia and finished second in the drivers' standings to Max Verstappen in 2022.

"Charles' bond to the Scuderia goes beyond that of just a driver and a team, as he has been part of the Ferrari family for eight years now, dating back to a time before he first sported the Prancing Horse emblem on his race suit," Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said. "His values and those of our team are intertwined and so it was natural for us to be in agreement on extending our collaboration."

Leclerc will look to rebound from a winless 2023 campaign when the F1 season kicks off at the Bahrain Grand Prix at the beginning of March.
