Ricciardo out of Dutch GP with broken metacarpal
AlphaTauri's Daniel Ricciardo sustained a broken metacarpal in his left hand, the team announced, according to The Athletic's Luke Smith.
The veteran Aussie crashed during second practice ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and will be replaced for the remainder of the weekend by reserve driver Liam Lawson.
The injury occurred when Ricciardo drove into the wall at Turn 3 to avoid McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who crashed moments earlier. Coincidentally, Piastri replaced Ricciardo at McLaren.

Ricciardo was visibly in pain while exiting his car. He was sent to a local hospital, where tests revealed the injury.
Ricciardo recently returned to the grid, replacing Nyck de Vries at Red Bull's farm team prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix. The race was slated to be his third since coming back.
Lawson, 21, will become the first New Zealand driver to compete in a grand prix since Brandon Hartley in 2018. He's currently competing in Super Formula and sits second in the standings.
