Red Bull's Max Verstappen won his third race of the Formula 1 season after passing Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton on the second-last lap of the French Grand Prix at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, on Sunday.

Hamilton finished second after missing out on the podium in the last two races, while Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez rounded out the top three.

Red Bull has now won three straight races.

"The two-stop pit stop (strategy) paid off. The whole race, we were fighting each other. I think it will be like this for the rest of the season," Verstappen said postrace.

Meanwhile, Hamilton has gone winless in three straight F1 events for the first time since 2019.

"Congratulations to Max, he did a great job. I am happy with the result. Unfortunately, I lost the position, but it was still a great race. We have got to dig deep and find some pace," Hamilton said.
