When the German Grand Prix kicks off on Sunday, Lewis Hamilton will sit at the top of the grid while his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas will sit third, separated by Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

After Ferrari dominated practices at Hockenheim, both Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel experienced power outages. Vettel will open his home race at the back of the grid after breaking down in the first round of qualifying, while Leclerc will sit 10th after experiencing a fuel issue in Q3.

Saturday's qualifying marks Hamilton's fourth pole of the season and the eighth for Mercedes in 11 races.

Rounding out the top five, Pierre Gasly bounced back from a crash during practice to place fourth, making the front two rows comprised entirely of Mercedes and Red Bull, while Kimi Raikkonen finished fifth in the Alfa Romeo.

While Leclerc is penciled in 10th on the grid, if his engine requires component changes, the 21-year-old could incur penalties.
